Scene Sounds is operated by Sector 3 Group Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 16566947), Kennards Harleston Road, Langmere, Diss, England, IP21 4PD. We are the data controller for the personal information we hold about you.

2. What we collect and why

We collect only what is necessary to run the service:

• Account information — your name and email address when you sign up. We use this to create your account, send you receipts and communicate with you about the service.
• Payment information — if you subscribe to Pro, your payment is handled by Stripe. We do not store your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment processing.
• Usage data — anonymous information about how the app is used (page views, session duration). This is collected via Google Analytics and does not identify you personally.
• Feedback — if you submit feedback via our Cognito form, we receive the information you provide, including your name, email and any comments.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the following bases:

• To perform our contract with you — providing access to Scene Sounds and processing your subscription
• Legitimate interests — improving the service and communicating relevant updates
• Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records for tax or regulatory purposes
• Consent — where you have opted in to receive marketing communications

4. Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with the following service providers who help us run Scene Sounds:

• Memberstack — user authentication and account management
• Stripe — payment processing
• Google Analytics — anonymised usage analytics
• Cognito Forms — feedback collection
• GitHub Pages — hosting the web application

All providers are contractually required to process your data only as instructed and to maintain appropriate security standards.

5. How long we keep your data

• Account data is retained for as long as your account is active, plus 12 months after closure
• Payment records are retained for 7 years in line with HMRC requirements
• Feedback submissions are retained for 2 years
• Analytics data is anonymised and retained for 26 months

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations)
• Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
• Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

7. Cookies

Scene Sounds uses cookies for authentication (to keep you logged in) and analytics (Google Analytics). Authentication cookies are essential and cannot be disabled. Analytics cookies can be blocked using your browser settings or an ad blocker.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Data security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure third-party authentication via Memberstack and payment processing via Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

9. International transfers

Some of our service providers (including Stripe and Google) process data outside the UK. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including Standard Contractual Clauses where required.

10. Children

Scene Sounds accounts are for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data about someone under 18, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via the platform. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
